Some 1988-91 K-trucks may experience a leak at the front axle vent hose connector (refer to figure 1). This leak usually occurs at the threads of the front axle vent hose connector.
This leak may be caused by inadequate sealer applied to the vent connector threads and relaxation or shrinkage of the vent connector material. This leak may be corrected by replacing the vent hose connector with a revised connector featuring an o-ring seal.
Remove (Figure 1)
1. Front axle skid plate (if equipped). 2. Clamp (52). 3. Hose (53) from the vent connector. 4. Vent hose connector (54).
Install (Figure 1)
1. New vent hose connector (54). - Torque to 13 N-m (10 lbs. ft.). - Sealer is NOT required or recommended. 2 Hose (53) to the vent connector. 3. Clamp (52). 4. Front axle skid plate (if equipped).
