SECONDARY DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RETENTION (NEW WEATHERSTRIP)

MODELS: 1988-1990 C/K 1, 2, 3

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES GMC TRUCK SERVICE BULLETIN 90-10-47 (CORP #061002) TO CORRECT VIN BREAKPOINTS FOR PONTIAC EAST AND FT. WAYNE BUILT TRUCKS. ALL COPIES OF 90-10-47 SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

Some 1988-1990 C/K Trucks may experience a condition where the door's secondary weatherstrip (see figure 1) is loose or pulled away from the door opening. In order to correct this condition, a newly designed weatherstrip has been released (P/N 15667234).

The prior design can be discerned from the new design by comparing the ends of the two weather-strips. The difference appears where the weather-strip grips the metal flange. In this area the new design (see figure 3) has two contact flaps, where as the previous design has only one contact flap, and saw-tooth-like extensions opposing the flap (see figure 2).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
