General Motors of Canada has determined that a defect which relates to Motor Vehicle Safety exists on certain 1990 CK 10-30 model trucks equipped with 6.2L diesel engines. The front diesel fuel feed and/or return lines of these vehicles can contact the automatic transmission shift linkage cordon shaft and/or, on K models, the front propshaft. If this contact occurs, a hole could be rubbed through the line and a diesel fuel leak may occur near the exhaust crossover pipe. A fuel leak of this type may result in an engine compartment fire.
To prevent this condition from occurring, a new design fuel line routing bracket will be installed. Additionally, the fuel lines will be inspected for wear, and if necessary, replaced.
Involved are certain 1990 CK 10-30 model trucks equipped with 6.2L diesel engines built within the following VIN breakpoints:
CHEV Oshawa L1101025 L1104190 Pontiac East LE100017 LE110162

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.
