THE SEAT DESIGN DOES NOT INCLUDE SUFFICIENT SPRING TENSION IN THE HINGES TO HOLD THE SEAT BACK UPRIGHT DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS.
THE SEAT DESIGN DOES INCLUDE AN INERTIA SEAT BACK LATCH TO HOLD THE SEAT BACK UPRIGHT IN A CRASH.
INSTALL A SET OF FLEXILATOR SPRINGS TO THE REAR SEAT HINGES. THESE SPRINGS PROVIDE THE REQUIRED TENSION TO HOLD THE REAR SEAT BACK IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION DURING NORMAL DRIVING.
SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. TO OBTAIN ACCESS TO THE REAR SEAT HINGE, REMOVE THE FOUR UPHOLSTERY HOG RINGS CLOSEST TO THE HINGE AND CAREFULLY PULL THE TRIM AND FOAM CLEAR FROM THE HINGE. 2. REMOVE THE GOLD COLORED MARRIAGE BOLT FROM OUTSIDE HINGE (FIGURE 1). 3. REMOVE THE PLASTIC HINGE COVER (FIGURE 1). 4. REINSTALL MARRIAGE BOLT. 5. AS A GUIDE FOR THE CENTER PUNCH AND DRILL OPERATION, PLACE THE TEMPLATE (FIGURE 2, ITEM 3) IN POSITION USING THE CENTER OF THE MARRIAGE BOLT HEAD AS A GUIDE FOR THE LOWER POSITION (FIGURE 2, ITEM 2), AND A SUITABLE LOCATING PIN (DRILL BIT, BOLT, ETC.) IN EXISTING UPPER HOLE (FIGURE 2, ITEM 1) FOR THE UPPER POSITION. 6. CENTER PUNCH AND DRILL TWO 5.94 MM (0.234 INCH) HOLES AS INDICATED BY THE ARROWS IN FIGURE 2. 7. RUN THREAD FORMING BOLT, PART NUMBER 15633613, INTO THE DRILLED UPPER HOLE. 8. PLACE SPRING, PART NUMBER 12387712, OVER THIS BOLT (FIGURE 3). 9. WITH LOWER END OF SPRING ATTACHED, INSERT AND TIGHTEN LOWER BOLT, PART NUMBER 15633613, IN THE DRILLED BOTTOM HOLE. 10. RETURN SEAT BACK FOAM AND COVER TO ORIGINAL POSITION. IMPORTANT: PLASTIC HINGE COVER CANNOT BE REINSTALLED AND MAY BE DISCARDED. 11. REINSTALL HOG RINGS IN ORIGINAL LOCATIONS. 12. REPEAT PROCEDURE FOR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEAT.
