Important: The mark on the top of the piston must face the front of the engine block.
When assembled, the flanges on the connecting rod and connecting rod cap should point to the front of the engine block on the left bank and point to the rear of the engine block on the right bank.5.1. | Hold the J 8037 firmly against the engine block until all of the piston rings have entered the cylinder bore. |
5.2. | Use the J 5239 in order to guide the connecting rod onto the crankshaft journal. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
