Makes 🢒 GMC_Truck 🢒 1999 🢒 GMC K Pickup - 4WD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 6.5L 🢒 Camshaft Installation

    Object Number: 59881 Size: SH

    Important: Replace the valve lifters when a new camshaft is installed.

  1. Install the camshaft sprocket key.

    2. Object Number: 59887 Size: SH
  2. Install the camshaft sprocket spacer, with the ID chamfer facing the camshaft.

    3. Object Number: 59889 Size: SH
  3. Install the camshaft.
    4. 3.1. Coat the camshaft lobes with Lubricant GM P/N United States 1052367, GM P/N Canada 992869, or the equivalent.
    3.2. Lubricate the camshaft bearing journals with engine oil.
    3.3. Carefully insert the camshaft into the block, in order to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.
  4. Install the thrust bearing.

    5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the thrust bearing bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (17 lb ft).
