Front Bumper Replacement Base

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 264988  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bumper to the brace bolts and washers.
  4. Remove the bumper to the bracket bolts and washers.

  5. Object Number: 264990  Size: LH
  6. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.
  7. Remove the guards (6, 7) from the bumper, if equipped.
  8. Remove the air deflector (8) from the bumper, if equipped. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air deflector to the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 264990  Size: LH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the guards (6, 7) to the bumper with the nuts, if equipped.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the guard to the bumper nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the bumper to the vehicle.

  7. Install the bumper bolts and the washers to the bracket.
  8. Install the bumper bolts and the washers to the brace.
  9. Align the bumper laterally to the grille area.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bumper to the bracket and the brace bolts to 112 N·m (83 lb ft).

Front Bumper Replacement Luxury

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  3. Object Number: 311568  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fog lamp wire connector (3).

  5. Object Number: 388723  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bumper to the bracket (6) bolts and washers.

  7. Object Number: 311553  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bumper to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 388723  Size: SH
  3. Install the bumper bolts and the washers to the bracket (6).

  7. Install the fog lamp wire connector (3).
  8. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  9. Install the negative battery cable.

Front Bumper Replacement Z-71 Tahoe

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the brush/grille guard. Refer to Grille Guard/Brush Guard Replacement .
  2. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  3. Disconnect and remove the fog lamp assemblies. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  4. Object Number: 497194  Size: SH
  5. Remove the eight bumper bolts securing the bumper to the frame.
  6. Remove the bumper bracket bolts and washers.

  7. Object Number: 497194  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the air deflector (8) from the bumper, if equipped. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fog lamp assemblies. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  2. Install the air deflector to the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 497196  Size: SH
  4. Install the bumper to the vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 497196  Size: SH
  6. Install the eight bumper bolts securing the bumper to the frame.
  7. Install the bumper bolts and the washers to the brace.
  8. Align the bumper laterally to the grille area.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the eight bumper bolts to 112 N·m (83 lb ft).

  10. Reconnect the fog lamp assemblies electrical connectors.
  11. Install the Grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  12. Install the brush/grille guard. Refer to Grille Guard/Brush Guard Replacement .

Front Bumper Replacement Limited Tahoe

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 519955  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fog lamp assemblies.
  4. Remove the fog lamp assemblies. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Remove the air deflector to the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 311553  Size: SH
  7. Remove the eight bumper bolts securing the bumper to the frame.
  8. Four bumper bolts on the top and four bumper bolts on the bottom of the bumper assembly.

  9. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bumper to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 311553  Size: SH
  3. Install the the eight bumper bolts securing the bumper to the frame.

  7. Reinstall fog lamp assemblies in the bumper. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  8. Install the fog lamp wire connector.
  9. Install the air deflector to the bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement
  10. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
