DEFINITION: This diagnostic procedure should only be used if the liftgate window release operates from the liftgate release switch and is inoperative with the keyless entry transmitter.

Was the Keyless Entry System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM, set on volts, between cavity F and ground.

Is battery voltage present?

--

Go to Step 3

Connect a DMM, set on ohms, between cavity G and the liftgate release switch cavity D.

Is there continuity?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

Replace the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .

Repair open in CKT 640 (ORN) between remote control door lock receiver and I/P fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair open in CKT 1576 (BLK) between remote control door lock receiver and S165. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Access and disconnect the Liftgate release relay.
  2. Connect aJ 39200 DMM, set on volts, between cavity 5 and ground.

Is there battery voltage?

--

Go to Step 3

Connect a DMM, set on ohms, between cavity 2 and ground.

Is there continuity?

--

Go to Step 4

Connect a DMM, set on ohms, between cavity 3 and connector C221 cavity A.

Is there continuity?

  1. Connect a test lamp between cavity 1 and ground.
  2. Press the rear release button on the keyless entry transmitter twice.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

--

Go to Step 6

Replace the liftgate release relay.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 640 (ORN) between the liftgate release relay and the I/P fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the liftgate release relay and G400. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 1576 (BLK) between the liftgate release relay and S404. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Inspect for an open in CKT 253 (BRN) between the liftgate release relay and the body control module.
  2. Repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  3. If no open was found, replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
