Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the bolt at the left end with the endgate open.
  2. Remove the rear bumper. Refer to Rear Bumper Replacement in Bumpers.

  3. Object Number: 264364  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts retaining the torque rod to the endgate.
  5. With the gate in the closed position, the bolts are accessible from under the vehicle.

  6. Remove the torque rod and the retainers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 264364  Size: SH
  1. Install the torque rod and the retainers to the vehicle.
  2. With the gate closed, place the torque rod and the retainers onto the vehicle.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts to the torque rod retainers.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the torque rod bracket bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the bolt at the left end with the endgate open.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the torque rod retainer bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Install the rear bumper. Refer to Rear Bumper Replacement in Bumpers.
