Heater Hoses Replacement 4.3L

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 43181 Quick Connect Connector Removal Tool

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the air intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.3L.

  4. Using the J 43181 disconnect the heater and hoses from the heater core inlet and the outlet.
  5. • Install J 43181 to the heater core pipes.
    • Close the tool around the heater core pipes.
    • Firmly pull the tool into the quick connect end of the heater hose.
    • Firmly grasp the heater hose. Pull the heater hose forward in order to disengage the hose from the heater core.

  6. Remove the inlet heater hose from the engine.

  8. Remove the outlet heater hose mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the outlet heater hose from the water pump.
  10. Remove the heater hoses.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater hoses.

  2. Object Number: 363243  Size: SH
  3. Install the outlet heater hose to the engine water pump.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the heater hose mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the inlet heater hose to the engine.

  8. Object Number: 362171  Size: SH
  9. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
  10. Firmly push the quick connect onto the heater core pipe until you hear an audible click.

  11. Install the air intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.3L.
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  13. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing in Engine Cooling.

Heater Hoses Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 43181 Quick Connect Connector Removal Tool

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the air intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L.
  3. Remove the heater and surge tank hoses from the mounting clip.

  5. Using the J 43181 disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core inlet and the outlet.
  6. • Install the J 43181 to the heater core pipes.
    • Close the tool around the heater core pipes.
    • Firmly pull the tool into the quick connect end of the heater hose.
    • Firmly grasp the heater hose. Pull the heater hose forward in order to disengage the hose from the heater core.

  7. Remove the inlet heater hose from the water pump.

  8. Object Number: 363118  Size: SH
  9. Remove the heater hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater hose.

  2. Object Number: 363237  Size: SH
  3. Install the heater hose to the water pump.

  4. Object Number: 362171  Size: SH
  5. Connect the heater and surge tank hoses to the heater core.
  6. Firmly push the quick connect onto the heater core pipe until you hear an audible click.

  7. Install the heater and surge tank hoses to the mounting clip.
  8. Install the air intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L.
  9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  10. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing in Engine Cooling.
