Important: 

   • Inspect the condition of the following fuses:
      - The BRAKE
      - The STOP LPS
      - The VEH STOP
      - The CRUISE
   • If you find any open fuse, locate and repair the source of the overload.
   • Inspect for any set powertrain DTCs. Refer to the appropriate DTC list from the following list:
      -  Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls - 4.3L
      -  Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L
   • Inspect for any set antilock brake (ABS) DTCs. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Antilock Brake System
   • Verify that ground G103 is clean and tight.
   • Inspect the cruise control linkage for loose, binding or improper adjustment.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Ensure that the cruise control switch is in the OFF position.
  3. Disconnect the cruise control module.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  5. Connect a test lamp (back probe) from terminal A13 CKT 41 (BRN) at the cruise control switch to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 41 (BRN).

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test lamp from the terminal F (BRN) wire at the cruise control module connector to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a self powered test lamp between the cruise control module connector cavity E for CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) and ground.

Is there continuity?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT).

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a self powered test lamp from terminal A CKT 397 (GRY) at the cruise control module connector to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 397 (GRY).

Is the repair complete?

Connect a self powered test lamp from terminal B CKT 84 (DK BLU) wire at the cruise control module connector to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a self powered test lamp from terminal C CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) at the cruise control module connector to ground.

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).

  1. Turn the ingition switch to the ON position.
  2. Ensure the cruise control switch is OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp from terminal A CKT 397 (GRY) at the cruise control module connector to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate the short to voltage in CKT 397 (GRY).

  2. While probing the terminal, push the SET button.

  2. While probing the terminal, depress the brake pedal.

Locate and repair open CKT 1320 (LT BLU) between the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) and the cruise control module connector.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a self powered test lamp between terminal K at the cruise control module and terminal F5 of C2 at the mid bussed electrical center (MBEC).

    • The cruise control module
    • The MBEC
    • The vehicle control module/powertrain control module
    • All of the inline connectors
