Was the System Check Performed?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the suspect shock.
  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  3. Ensure the selectable ride switch is in the ON (FIRM) position.
  4. Using the J 35616 adapter, connect a test lamp from terminal A of the suspect shock to ground (harness side).

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1384 (TAN/WHT) between the shock and the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC).

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Using the J 35616 adapter, connect a self-powered test lamp from terminal B (BLK) of the suspect shock to ground. harness side).

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

Important: Take care not to damage the pins in the connector.

Using a J 39200 and J 35616 , measure the resistance of the suspect shock.

Front: the red probe to the center pin of the shock and the black probe to the rod of the shock. Rear: red probe to terminal A, black to terminal B.

Is the resistance measured within the specified range?

11-21ohms

Go to Step 8

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1550 (BLK) or CKT 1750 (BLK) between the shock and ground.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the shock absorber. Refer to the appropriate procedure from the following list:

  1. Inspect for corrosion within the shock connector.
  2. Reconnect the shock connector.
  3. Re-Verify the shock operation.
