Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connection from the stoplamp switch.

  5. Remove the pushrod retaining clip (4).
  6. Remove the stoplamp switch (2).
  7. Remove the pushrod (3) from the brake pedal stud (1).

  8. Object Number: 375693  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake pedal bolt nut.
  10. Remove the brake pedal bolt.
  11. Remove the brake pedal.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake pedal.
  2. Install the brake pedal bolt.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the brake pedal bolt nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  6. Install the pushrod (3) to the brake pedal stud (1).
  7. Install the stoplamp switch (2).
  8. Install the pushrod retaining clip (4).
  9. Connect electrical connection to the stop lamp switch.
  10. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
