Rear Brake Hose Replacement Caliper

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove all dirt, grease, or other foreign material from the hose fittings.

  4. Object Number: 363425  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the hose from the brake pipe at the axle.
  6. Remove the brake hose retaining clip.
  7. Remove the brake hose bolt from the axle.

  8. Object Number: 363420  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake hose mounting bolt and the compression washers at the caliper.
  10. Remove the brake hose.
  11. Discard the washers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 363420  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake hose. Do not twist the hose when installing the hose.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the brake hose mounting bolt and new compression washers at the caliper.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolt to 48 N·m (33 lb ft) (15 series).
        • Tighten the bolt to 52 N·m (38 lb ft) (25 series).

  5. Install the brake hose bolt and the bracket to the axle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the brake hose retaining clip.
  8. Connect the brake pipe.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure in Antilock Brake Systems.
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Remove the safety stands.
  13. Lower the vehicle.

Rear Brake Hose Replacement Jounce

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove all dirt, grease, or other foreign material from the hose fittings.

  3. Object Number: 406207  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the jounce hose from the brake pipe at the frame.
  5. Remove the jounce hose retaining clip.
  6. Remove the jounce hose from the bracket.
  7. Remove the left and the right brake pipes from the jounce hose junction block.
  8. Remove the junction block mounting bolt from the axle.
  9. Remove the jounce hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the jounce hose. Do not twist the hose when installing the hose.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   3. Install the jounce hose mounting bolt to the axle.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the left and the right brake pipes to the jounce hose junction block.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the jounce hose to the bracket.
  8. Install the jounce hose retaining clip.
  9. Connect the jounce hose to the brake pipe at the frame.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure in Antilock Brake Systems.
  12. Remove the safety stands.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
