Important: Ensure the transmission linkage is properly adjusted. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement 4L60-E or Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement 4L80-E.

Does the transmission shift from the park position?

Go to Step 3

Replace the stoplamp switch assembly. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Steering Column Lock Diagnostic System Check .

Connect a test lamp between C201A CKT 1135 (DK GRN/WHT) cavity A17 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Locate and repair the short to battery voltage on CKT 1135.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Steering Column Lock Diagnostic System Check .

1. Inspect for a mechanical binding.
2. Replace the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
