  1. Disconnect the suspect speaker.
  2. Set the ohmmeter on Rx1 scale.
  3. Connect the ohmmeter across the cavities of the suspect speaker.

Is there a pop noise from the speaker?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or the RUN position.
  2. Turn the radio ON.
  3. Tune the radio to a strong signal.
  4. Connect the J 39200 DMM across the suspect speaker.

Does the voltage vary around 1 Volt AC?

Replace the speaker. Refer to

    •  Speaker Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Locate and repair the open or short in the following circuits between the radio and speakers.

    • CKT 116 (YEL)
    • CKT 199 (BRN)
    • CKT 46 (DK BLU)
    • CKT 115 (LT BLU)
    • CKT 201 (TAN)
    • CKT 118 (GRY)
    • CKT 200 (LT GRN)
    • CKT 117 (DK GRN)

Do the speakers operate normally?

System OK

Service the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
