Was the instrument cluster system check performed?

  1. With the scan tool, select instrument panel cluster, data display, and data
  2. Start the engine and run to operating temperature.
  3. Select the displayed Trans Oil Temp display on the scan tool.
  4. Compare the displayed Trans Oil Temp data on the scan tool to the temperature gauge reading on the cluster.

Are the temperatures on the scan tool and the gauge approximately the same?

Approx. 87°C (190°F) @ steady state

With the scan tool, read the Monitored Trans Oil Temp.

Is the Monitored Trans Oil Temp in the range of 38-150°C (100-300°F) ?

Compare the Monitored Trans Oil Temp with the Displayed Trans Oil Temp.

Are the temperatures approximately the same?

--

Go to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis

If the Monitored Trans Oil Temp is less than 38°C (100°F) , the gauge should be at or near its lowest reading.

If the monitored Trans Oil Temp is greater than 150°C (300°F) , the gauge should be at or near the maximum reading.

Is the gauge reading properly?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check for 4.3L.

or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check for 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L

Go to Step 6

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement

Is the repair complete?
