The retained accessory power (RAP) is a subsystem of the
body control module (BCM). The RAP is designed to provide power to the following
accessories when the ignition is in the run or accessory position, and up
to 20 minutes when the ignition switch is in the off position.
Power is supplied via CKT 542 (RED) to the RAP relay when the ignition
switch is in the off position. The BCM sensing all door are closed will ground
CKT 755 (BLK) thus closing the relay contacts supplying power to the radio
and power window fuses. When any door is opened or the ignition switch is
turned to accy or run, the BCM will remove the ground and the RAP relay contacts
will switch over and power will be supplied via CKT 342 (RED). Once the RAP
relay is energized, the accessories remain operational until any on of the
following conditions exists:
• | The 20 minute timer elapses. |
• | The door handle switch is activated. |
• | The ignition switch is activated. |
