The retained accessory power (RAP) is a subsystem of the body control module (BCM). The RAP is designed to provide power to the following accessories when the ignition is in the run or accessory position, and up to 20 minutes when the ignition switch is in the off position.

    • The power windows
    • The radio
    • The sunroof
    • The overhead console

Power is supplied via CKT 542 (RED) to the RAP relay when the ignition switch is in the off position. The BCM sensing all door are closed will ground CKT 755 (BLK) thus closing the relay contacts supplying power to the radio and power window fuses. When any door is opened or the ignition switch is turned to accy or run, the BCM will remove the ground and the RAP relay contacts will switch over and power will be supplied via CKT 342 (RED). Once the RAP relay is energized, the accessories remain operational until any on of the following conditions exists:

    • The 20 minute timer elapses.
    • Any door is opened.
    • The door handle switch is activated.
    • The ignition switch is activated.
