Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the protective shields as necessary.
- Remove the rear exhaust system. Refer to
Rear Exhaust System Replacement
.
- Remove the catalytic convertor. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- Remove the front pipe. Refer to
Front Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the exhaust hanger
bracket bolts (2) (automatic transmission).
- Remove the exhaust hanger bracket.
- Remove the exhaust hanger
bracket bolts (manual transmission).
- Remove the exhaust hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install exhaust hanger
bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the exhaust
hanger bracket bolts (2) (automatic transmission).
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust hanger bracket bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the exhaust hanger
bracket bolts (manual transmission).
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust hanger bracket bolts to 14 N·m (10 lb
ft).
- Install the front pipe. Refer to
Front Pipe Replacement
.
- Install the catalytic convertor. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- Install the rear exhaust system. Refer to
Rear Exhaust System Replacement
.
- Install the protective shields as necessary.
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
