Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement
.
- Remove the rear servo assembly from the transmission case as follows:
2.4. | Bottom retaining clip (64) |
2.6. | Outer ring oil seal (66) |
2.7. | Inner ring oil seal (67) |
2.8. | Accumulator piston (68) |
2.12. | Servo spring retainer (72) |
2.14. | Accumulator spring (74) |
Inspection Procedure
- Place the
J 21370-10
in the servo bore.
- Position the
J 38737
over the bore with the hex nut facing
the parking pawl linkage.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Fasten the
J 38737
with the two rear servo cover bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 Ib ft).
- Ensure the
J 21370-10
moves freely in the tool and the pin bore.
- In order to determine the correct pin length, tighten the nut on the gauge.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 34 N·m (25 Ib ft).
- Select the correct band apply pin length.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear servo assembly to the transmission case as follows:
1.1. | Accumulator spring (74) |
1.3. | Servo spring retainer (72) |
1.7. | Accumulator piston (68) |
1.8. | Inner ring oil seal (67) |
1.9. | Outer ring oil seal (66) |
1.11. | Bottom retaining clip (64) |
- Install the cover bolts (61).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the transmission oil pan and filter. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement
.
Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.
Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will
need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
- Reset the TAP values. Refer to
Adapt Function
.
