Important:: 

   • Inspect the condition of the body control module (BCM), Ign 1, the cruise and the park lamp fuses (located in the fuse block and the body wiring harness junction block). If any fuse is open, replace the fuse and retest system for intermittent fuse failure. If the fuse continues to fail locate and repair the source of overload. Refer to Power Distribution Schematics .
   • Inspect in order to make sure that Ground G203 and G304 are clean and tight.
   • This diagnostic table assumes that all other chimes function properly.

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Using a scan tool, read the BCM input data for the seat belt.

Does the scan tool read the specific value?

YES

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the connector combs from the BCM connector C1, leaving the BCM connected.
  3. Using the appropriate probe from the J 35616 connector test adapter kit, backprobe the seatbelt switch signal circuit to ground with a fused jumper.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.

Does the seat belt chime sound?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the seat belt switch.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the seatbelt switch signal circuit and ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  5. Does the seat belt chime sound?

Repair the open in the seatbelt switch signal circuit between the BCM and the seat belt switch or the inflatable restraint sensing and the diagnostic module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Connect a fused jumper between the seatbelt switch signal circuit and the switch ground circuit.

Does the seat belt chime sound?

Replace the seat belt switch. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement in Seat Belts.

Repair the open in the switch ground circuit between the seat belt switch and ground. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
