Info - New Flexible Spare Tire Hoist Tool Available to Assist in Lowering/Removing Spare Tire

This bulletin is being issued to inform dealers that customers of the above listed vehicles were sent a letter advising them of a tool that was available at no charge to assist with removing the spare tire if the customer was unable to lower the spare tire using the jack handle extensions supplied with the vehicle. The customer could return a post card or call an 800 number to receive their free tool. This program officially ended on December 31, 2003. These new flexible spare tire hoist tools can now be obtained through GMSPO using P/N 15095519. Please advise the customer that the tool can be purchased at a cost to them from their local dealer.

This new flexible spare tire hoist tool replaces one of the original jack handle extensions (1) that were supplied with the vehicle for raising and lowering the spare tire. When using this new tool, insert the hoist end (open end) through the hole in the rear bumper and into the hoist assembly. Follow the instructions on raising/lowering the spare tire shown in the Owner's Manual or on the label attached to your storage bag. Store this flexible spare tire hoist tool with the existing tools in the storage bag located in the rear of the cab.
