This bulletin is being issued to revise the Seat Belt Retractor
Replacement - Front procedures in the Seat Belts subsection of the 1999 and
2000 C/K Service Manuals. Please replace the current information in
the Service Manual with the following information.
The following information has been updated within SI2000.
If you are using a paper version of this Service Manual, please make a reference
to this bulletin on the affected page.
Removal Procedure
- Move the front seat to the full forward position.
Important: Do not remove the seat back cover from the head restraint retainers.
- Remove the seat back cover and pad. Refer to the Seat Back Cover and
Pad Replacement - Front procedure in the Service Manual.
- Separate the seat foam from the cardboard in order to gain access
to the retainer on the seat belt side.
- Remove the seat belt side cardboard retainers.
- Move the cardboard outwards in order to gain access to the lower
seat belt retractor bolt.
- Remove the retractor bolt.
- Remove the retractor tower retaining
screw.
- Remove the retractor tower cover.
- Remove the upper anchor bolt.
- Remove the retractor from the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Position the seat belt retractor onto the seat.
Line up the tab on the retractor to the tab on the seat frame.
Notice: Refer to the Fastener Notice in the Cautions and Notices subsection
of the Service Manual.
- Install the upper anchor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 53 N·m (39 lb ft).
- Install the retractor tower cover.
- Install the retractor tower cover retaining screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the retractor.
- Install the retractor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 53 N·m (39 lb ft).
- Install the rear cardboard panel retainers.
- Install the seat back cover and pad. Refer to the Seat Back Cover
and Pad Replacement - Front procedure in the Service Manual.
- Move the seat to its original position.
