Condition

Some customers may comment that the transmission fluid leaks out of the vent when the truck is started after a cold soak. Temperatures when this occurs will usually be near -18°C (0°F) or below. This condition may be worse if the truck idles for several minutes before being driven.

Cause


Object Number: 1377421  Size: SH

Inadequate transmission venting at cold temperatures may cause this condition. The above graphic is a non-vented indicator (dipstick).

Correction


Object Number: 1377427  Size: SH

Replace the transmission fluid indicator (dipstick) with a new vented indicator, P/N 15115171.
