Front Bumper Replacement Old Style

1. Remove the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .



2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamps, if equipped.



3. Remove the retaining bolts (1, 2) from the front bumper.
4. Remove the brace bolt (3) from the front bumper.
5. Remove the front bumper assembly from the vehicle.
6. Remove the air deflector from the bumper if necessary. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .
7. Remove the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement .
8. Transfer any parts as needed.

1. Install the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement .
2. Install the air deflector to the bumper if necessary. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .
3. Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: Tighten the bolts in the following sequence.

4. Install the retaining bolts (1, 2) to the front bumper.

Tighten

1. Tighten the bracket bolt (1) to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bracket bolt (2) to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
3. Tighten the brace bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).



5. Connect the electrical connector to the fog lamps, if equipped.
6. Install the front grille Refer to Grille Replacement .

Front Bumper Replacement New Style GMC

1. Remove the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.



2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamps, if equipped.



3. Remove the retaining bolts (1, 2) from the front bumper.
4. Remove the brace bolt (3) from the front bumper.
5. Disconnect all electrical connectors.
6. Remove the front bumper assembly from the vehicle.
7. Transfer any parts as needed:

•	Fog lamps--Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

•	Front bumper filler--Refer to Front Bumper Filler Replacement .

•	Front bumper brace--Refer to Brace Replacement - Front Bumper .

1. Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.





Important: Tighten the bolts in the following sequence.

2. Install the retaining bolts (1, 2) to the front bumper.

Tighten

1. Tighten the bracket bolt (1) to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bracket bolt (2) to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
3. Tighten the brace bolt (3) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).



3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.

Front Bumper Replacement New Style Chevrolet

1. Remove the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.



2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamps, if equipped.



3. Remove the retaining bolts (1, 2) from the front bumper.
4. Remove the brace bolt (3) from the front bumper.
5. Disconnect all electrical connectors.
6. Remove the front bumper assembly from the vehicle.
7. Transfer any parts as needed:

•	Fog lamps--Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

•	Front bumper filler--Refer to Front Bumper Filler Replacement .

•	Front bumper brace--Refer to Brace Replacement - Front Bumper .

1. Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
