The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
When trying to perform a service charge it may be noticed, that when the ignition key is turned off the ESCM and SGCM do not stay awake and the Tech 2 will display "No Communications with Vehicle". While viewing the ESCM (or BECM) Data, with the Tech 2, the "Batt. Pack Service Charge" will always display "DONE".
To correct this concern perform the "Reset Battery Total Ahrs." procedure with the Tech 2 via BECM Output Controls. When the reset procedure is complete, the "Batt. Pack Service Charge" parameter will display "Incomplete" and a service charge will be able to be performed.
Note: Before clearing the Total AHrs, record the AHrs on the Repair Order. This number MAY need to be used in the future.
After the service charge is complete, check each individual battery per SI Document ID # 1421873 "Battery Inspection/Test". If any battery fails the "Battery Inspection/Test" perform the "Battery Charging" procedure Doc ID # 1429756. Once the "Battery Charging" procedure is complete re-test the battery using the "Battery Inspection/Test", if the battery still fails replace the battery.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
