INFO. ON 'PRIMARY' & 'LOW AIR' TELLTALE LAMP OPERATION

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON "PRIMARY" AND "LOW AIR" TELLTALE LAMP OPERATION

MODELS: 1995 TOPKICK AND KODIAK 1995 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK B7 SCHOOL BUS WITH JE4 AIR BRAKES

ON AIR BRAKE UNITS, THE "PRIMARY" BRAKE TELLTALE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE TRUCK IS FIRST STARTED AND THEN GOES OFF AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. ALSO, THE "LOW AIR" TELLTALE BULB IS MISSING BY DESIGN.

MANY DEALERSHIPS AND BODY BUILDERS BELIEVE THAT THE "LOW AIR" TELLTALE BULB WAS INCORRECTLY PLACED IN THE "PRIMARY" BRAKE TELLTALE SOCKET. FOR 1995, ENGINEERING HAS CHANGED THE DESIGN SO THAT THE "PRIMARY" BRAKE TELLTALE LIGHT IS TAKING OVER THE FUNCTION OF THE "LOW AIR" TELLTALE. THE 1995 OWNER'S MANUAL EXPLAINS THE OPERATION OF THE "PRIMARY" BRAKE TELLTALE IN DETAIL.

MAKE NO CORRECTION TO THE TRUCKS. IF DEALERSHIP OR BODY BUILDER TECHNICIANS MOVED THE TELLTALE BULB FROM THE "PRIMARY" SOCKET TO THE "LOW AIR" SOCKET, THE BULB SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE "PRIMARY" SOCKET.
