CAMPAIGN: IMPROPER CLUTCH BRG. TRANS. PILOT SHAFT COMBINATION

GENERAL MOTORS HAS LEARNED THAT CERTAIN 1985-86 C7 MEDIUM DUTY CONVENTIONAL TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A DDAD 8.2L TURBOCHARGED DIESEL ENGINE, FULLER 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND LIPE, 2 PLATE, PUSH TYPE CLUTCH MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN OVERSIZED I.D. FLYWHEEL PILOT BEARING. THIS CAN RESULT IN ERRATIC SHIFT RELEASE AND DIFFICULT SHIFTING. IN SOME CASES THERE ALSO MAY BE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAIN DRIVE GEAR BEARING RETAINER WHICH MAY RESTRICT CLUTCH DISENGAGEMENT. VEHICLES INVOLVED INVOLVED ARE ALL 1985-1986 C7 MEDIUM DUTY CONVENTIONAL TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH LH3 (DDAD 8.2L DIESEL ENGINE), MPH (FULLER RT 6610 TRANSMISSION), MXN (LIPE 14" 2 PLATE PUSH CLUTCH), AND MWW (1.75" PILOT SHAFT SPLINE) WITHIN THE FOLLOWING BREAKPOINTS. PLANT MODEL YEAR FROM THROUGH PONTIAC 1985 FV616974 FV632026 PONTIAC 1986 GV501333 GV524602 THE SPECIFIC VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THIS CAMPAIGN HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED ON VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER COMPUTER LISTINGS. THESE LISTINGS ARE FURNISHED TO ALL INVOLVED DEALERS WITH THE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN. DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY DEALERS ARE TO SERVICE ALL VEHICLES SUBJECT TO THIS CAMPAIGN AT NO CHARGE TO OWNERS, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, AGE OF VEHICLE, OR OWNERSHIP, FROM THIS TIME FORWARD. OWNERS OF VEHICLES RECENTLY SOLD FROM YOUR NEW VEHICLE INVENTORY ARE TO BE CONTACTED BY THE DEALER AND ARRANGEMENTS MADE TO MAKE THE REQUIRED CORRECTION ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS BULLETIN. ADJUST CLUTCH: TRUCK SERVICE BULLETIN 86-B-65, DATED APRIL, 1986. PARTS INFORMATION PARTS ARE TO BE OBTAINED FROM GENERAL MOTORS SERVICE PARTS OPERATION (GMSPO). TO ENSURE THAT THESE PARTS WILL BE OBTAINED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THEY SHOULD BE ORDERED FROM GMSPO ON A C.I.O. ORDER WITH NO SPECIAL INSTRUCTION CODE BUT ORDER ON AN ADVISE CODE (2). EACH LABEL PROVIDES A SPACE TO INCLUDE THE FIVE (5) DIGIT DEALER CODE OF THE DEALER PERFORMING THE CAMPAIGN SERVICE. THIS INFORMATION MAY BE INSERTED WITH A TYPEWRITER OR BALL POINT PEN. EACH "CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL" IS TO BE LOCATED ON THE RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT IN AN AREA WHICH WILL BE VISIBLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT IN FOR PERIODIC SERVICING BY THE OWNER.
