SEATBELT ASSY. DAMAGES DOOR TRIM PANEL (REPLACE WITH NEW)

SUBJECT: SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY DAMAGES DOOR TRIM PANEL

MODELS: 1983-1988 C5, C6 AND C7 MEDIUM DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH FULL WIDTH BENCH SEAT (RPO ANZ)

Some of the subject vehicles equipped with a fun width bench seat may experience seat belt buckle assemblies which foul on the door opening and may result in damage to the door trim panel, seat cover and/or door opening.

To correct this condition, a new seat belt assembly has been released in production incorporating a retainer that holds the belt/buckle in the proper position when the door is closed.

Redesigned seat belt assemblies were released as standard equipment effective with the following vehicle identification numbers:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
