WARRANTY INFORMATION LETTER (CHEMICAL PAINT SPOTTING)

Subject: Chemical Paint Spotting

This warranty letter is a reprint of a dealer letter originally issued on December 23, 1987. It is reprinted to update the cause code to the current nomenclature.

This is to advise you of the policy that applies to GMC Truck vehicles in your inventory that sustain paint damage (chemical spotting/etching) due to atmospheric fallout.

Effective January 1, 1988, new GMC Truck vehicles in your inventory, including carrier deliveries, requiring paint repair due to chemical spotting/etching (acid rain) should be repaired prior to sale, and submitted as a warranty repair. (Atmospheric fallout - acid rain - is defined as transit particle deposition from an unidentifiable source.) To assure prompt payment, Cause Code 5A - Acid Rain/Chemical Fallout should be appropriately noted when submitting the warranty claim. Of course, frequent vehicle washing, continues to be one of the best preventative measures to minimize the risk of fallout damage. We urge you to continue this practice. This policy is reflected in Section 1.2.1. of the Policy and Procedure Manual.

Our action is based on our interest to provide the GMC Truck customer with a quality product at the time of delivery. It is not intended to assume any liability for the condition nor does it have a retroactive provision.
