REVISED AIR CLEANER ELEMENT (INSTALL NEW DESIGN)

SUBJECT: AIR CLEANER ELEMENT HAS PERFORATIONS (INSTALL REVISED AIR CLEANER ELEMENT)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990-92 TOPKICK WITH 3116 CAT (RPO LXO)

REVISED TO CORRECT THE LABOR OPERATION NUMBER.

Owners of some 1990-1992 TopKick with Caterpillar 3116 diesel engines (RPO LXO) may comment on small perforations in the pleats of their air cleaner elements (P/N 15619013). Vibrations from the flow of air through the air cleaner cause the air cleaner element pleats to chafe against the inner liner. The chafing could result in small perforations in the creases of the pleats. To correct this condition, a revised air cleaner element (P/N 15696245) has been released with a spiral hot melt adhesive bead around the inside diameter of the element to prevent the chafing of the pleats.
