SOME SUBJECT 1983-1987 MEDIUM DUTY VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A CONDITION WHICH EXHIBITS A CLUNKING NOISE OR RATTLE IN THE FRONT BRAKE AREA. THIS MAY BE DUE TO WEAR OF THE CALIPER SUPPORT (ANCHOR PLATE) AND CALIPER IN THE FORWARD MOUNT POSITION.

EFFECTIVE WITH 1988 START OF PRODUCTION, A REDESIGNED CALIPER RETAINER SPRING IS BEING USED IN PRODUCTION FOR IMPROVED CALIPER TO CALIPER SUPPORT DURABILITY.

A CALIPER SHIM KIT, P/N 15611048, IS AVAILABLE THROUGH GMSPO FOR REPAIR OF THE SUBJECT CONDITION ON 1983-1987 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. THE SHIM KIT INCLUDES ILLUSTRATED SERVICE REPAIR PROCEDURES. ONE KIT IS REQUIRED PER VEHICLE.
