ATTACHING WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR (SERVICE PROCEDURE)

CONDITION: DIFFICULTY IN ATTACHING THE HARNESS CONNECTOR TO THE THERMOSTAT CONNECTOR ON 40MT CRANKING MOTOR CAN RESULT IN LOOSE CONNECTIONS AND DAMAGED OR MISALIGNED TERMINALS. SOLUTION: TO PROPERLY ATTACH CONNECTOR, OBSERVE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: (1) LUBRICANT (SUCH AS ENGINE OIL OR BEARING GREASE) MAY BE APPLIED TO OUTSIDE SURFACE OF CONNECTOR BODY LOCATED IN MOTOR FRAME. DO NOT ALLOW ANY KIND OF LUBRICANT TO GET ON TERMINALS. (2) ALIGN LOCATOR TABS ON CONNECTOR BODIES (SEE ILLUSTRATION). (3) PUSH HARNESS CONNECTOR "STRAIGHT-ON" UNTIL CONNECTOR IS FULLY SEATED. (4) CONNECTOR LEADS, AS IN ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, SHOULD BE SUPPORTED, AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO CONNECTOR, TO AVOID VIBRATION LOOSENING.
