This bulletin affects all 1992 W5 and W7 trucks equipped with the TICS System (Timing and Rate Control System).
The fuel injection pump used on these engines cannot be repaired by an authorized Zexel repair station. Therefore, when warranty repairs are required, the following steps or procedures must be followed:
1. Perform the necessary checks and inspections in determining if a fuel injection pump assembly R&R is necessary. Refer to the 1992 W series service manual for diagnostic procedures.
2. Once it has been determined that the fuel pump assembly must be removed and replaced, please contact the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) immediately. Group 4, Medium Duty Truck. Do not remove injection pump prior to TAC approval.
3. Once approved for exchange, a fuel injection pump assembly will be shipped to your location, on a priority basis, from the rebuild centre collect. Your dealership will be invoiced for exchange pump assembly.
4. Upon receiving the pump, remove the pump assembly and after completely draining old pump, repackage it in original shipping container.
5. Ship pump assembly to rebuild centre prepaid as per mailing instructions supplied by TAC.
6. Warranty claim should reflect, exchange pump invoice amount and cost of pump shipments to and from rebuild centre.
1. Upon determining that an ECM unit must be replaced, contact the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC). Group 4, Medium Duty Truck.
2. Upon approval for ECM replacement, TAC will place an order and an ECM will be shipped to your dealership.
3. Return the failed ECM unit to the following location FREIGHT/POSTAGE PREPAID TO:
