SUBJECT: WARRANTY ADMINISTRATION - UPDATE TO THE LIMITED WARRANTY FOR NEW CATERPILLAR 3116 ENGINES

MODELS: 1994 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK MEDIUM DUTY SCHOOL BUSSES, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AND FIRE TRUCKS WITH 3116 CATERPILLAR DIESEL ENGINES

THE 1994 CHEVROLET AND GMC MEDIUM DUTY TRUCK AND CHASSIS WARRANTY OWNERS ASSISTANCE INFORMATION BOOKLET STATES THAT THE WARRANTY PERIOD ON THE NEW 3116 CATERPILLAR DIESEL ENGINES USED TO POWER SCHOOL BUS AND RECREATIONAL VEHICLES IS 60 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES (162,000 KILOMETERS) OR 1,800 OPERATING HOURS, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST AFTER DATE OF DELIVERY TO THE FIRST USER.

CATERPILLAR HAS ANNOUNCED THAT EFFECTIVE FOR VEHICLES/ENGINES DELIVERED ON OR AFTER MAY 1, 1993, THE CATERPILLAR LIMITED WARRANTY ON NEW 3116 DIESEL ENGINES USED TO POWER SCHOOL BUSSES, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES OR FIRE TRUCKS IS REVISED TO 60 MONTHS AFTER DELIVERY TO THE FIRST USER.
