DEAR ISUZU NPR-GAS OWNER:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board. Isuzu Motors Limited has determined that a defect which relates to emission regulations exists in certain 1998 NPR-GAS vehicles.

What Is The Condition?

On all affected vehicles, the installed fuel filler neck does not contain the one-way valve restricting fuel spit back. This causes the fuel spit back volume to exceed Federal and California emission regulations.

What We Will Do

To correct this condition your Isuzu dealer will install a new fuel filler neck. This service will be performed for you at no charge.

What You Should Do

Please contact your Isuzu dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. Your dealer will need a few days notice and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), as shown in top left hand corner of this letter, to coordinate parts delivery and service schedules. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your Isuzu dealer. The length of time required to perform this correction is approximately 35 minutes. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle. Presentation of this letter to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. Please have your dealer refer to Campaign Bulletin SB98-02-C006 . To locate the Isuzu dealer nearest you, or if you have any questions regarding this matter, please call the Isuzu Care Team Line at 1-800-643-4070 ext. 304.

Your Isuzu dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If you believe that the condition has not been or cannot be remedied without charge within a reasonable time, you may contact the National Owner Relations Department, American Isuzu Motors Inc., P.O. Box 995, Whittier, CA, 90608-0995, or call the Isuzu Care Team Line at 1-800-643-4070 ext. 304.

In order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty made applicable to your vehicle by State or Federal Law, and your right to participate in future recalls, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could legally be determined to be lack of proper maintenance of you vehicle. Also, your vehicle may fail a state or local emission inspection if this recall is not accomplished.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires vehicle emission recall campaigns be completed prior to California registration renewal. Uncorrected emission recall campaigns will result in the inability to renew your California vehicle registration.

At the time of emission campaign completion, your California dealer will issue a "Proof Of Correction Certificate". Keep this certificate and, if required, present it to the Department of Motor Vehicles when renewing your California registration as proof of campaign completion.

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.

Sincerely,

AMERICAN ISUZU MOTORS INC.

Important: If you have sold or traded your Isuzu vehicle, please enter the current owner's name and address, if known, on the enclosed "Change of Information" postcard and drop it in the mail. Postage has already been paid. We will contact the new owner.
