Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 183394  Size: SH
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the bolt holding both oil level indicator tubes together.

  4. Object Number: 183393  Size: SH
  5. Remove the top half of the oil level indicator tube from the bottom half.
  6. Clean the old sealer from the tube.
  7. Remove the spark plug for the number 4 cylinder. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  8. Object Number: 500691  Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
  10. Remove the oil level indicator tube from the engine using a twisting motion.
  11. Clean the old sealer from the oil level indicator tube and the engine block.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 500691  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil level indicator tube to the engine block. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Installation.
  2. Install the spark plug for the number 4 cylinder. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  3. Object Number: 183393  Size: SH
  4. Apply sealant, GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent, to the end of the oil level indicator tube top half.
  5. Install the oil level indicator tube top half to the bottom half.

  6. Object Number: 183394  Size: SH
  7. Secure the engine oil level indicator tube to the transmission oil level indicator tube with the bolt.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 13 N·m (106 lb in).

  9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  10. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
