GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

Use only the prescribed lift points when elevating the vehicle.

The hoist lift points for the front of the vehicle are located under the frame and outboard of the front spring rear hangers. The hoist lift points for the rear of the vehicle are located under the frame and inboard of the rear spring front hangers.

The front and rear end lift points for the floor jack are beneath the axle at the spring mount.

Whenever the vehicle is lifted using a jack or a floor jack, observe the following precautions:

    • Chock the wheels at the end of the vehicle opposite the end being lifted.
    • Use jack stands for support. Place the jack stands beneath the frame or beneath the axles.

When removing major components from the vehicle, while the vehicle is on a hoist, chain the vehicle frame to the hoist pads in order to prevent tip-off.

LINK: Notice: When jacking or lifting a vehicle, do not allow the lift pads to contact the brake lines, brake cables, accelerator cables, transmission shift cables, or fuel lines. Such contact may result in damage or unsatisfactory vehicle performance.
