Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Object Number: 173203  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  4. Raise the vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 66193  Size: SH
  6. Remove the engine oil and the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  7. Remove the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 183406  Size: SH
  9. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  10. Remove the flywheel inspection cover.

  11. Object Number: 4564  Size: SH
  12. Remove the engine mount through bolts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  13. Raise and support the engine.

  14. Object Number: 176054  Size: SH
  15. Remove the oil pan nuts and the bolts.
  16. Note the location of any studs in order to assist reassembly.


    Object Number: 176052  Size: SH
  17. Remove the engine oil pan and the gasket.
  18. Clean all of the sealing surfaces. Refer to Oil Pan Clean and Inspect .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 176052  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine oil pan and a new oil pan gasket. Refer to Oil Pan Installation .

  2. Object Number: 4564  Size: SH
  3. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts.
  4. Install the engine mount through-bolts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  5. Install the flywheel inspection cover.

  6. Object Number: 183406  Size: SH
  7. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  8. Install the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 66193  Size: SH
  10. Install the engine oil filter and the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  11. Lower the vehicle.

  12. Object Number: 173203  Size: SH
  13. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.
