Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the oil level indicator from the oil level indicator tube.

  2. Object Number: 234451  Size: SH
  3. Remove the mounting nut from the oil level indicator tube.
  4. Remove the upper oil level indicator tube from the lower oil level indicator tube.
  5. Remove the seal from the upper oil level indicator tube.
  6. Remove the lower oil level indicator tube from the engine oil pan.

  7. Object Number: 173185  Size: SH
  8. Remove the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube.

Installation Procedure

Important: Always replace the existing O-ring when installing the oil level indicator tube.

  1. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the end of the oil level indicator tube.

  2. Object Number: 173185  Size: SH
  3. Install the O-ring on the oil level indicator tube.

  4. Object Number: 234451  Size: SH
  5. Install the lower oil level indicator tube to the engine oil pan.
  6. Install the upper oil level indicator tube into the lower oil level indicator tube.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the retaining nut to the oil level indicator tube.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 23 N·m (17 lb in).

  10. Install the oil level indicator into the oil level indicator tube.
