The engine heater preheats the engine coolant for cold weather starting. The engine coolant heater operates from a 110-volt AC power source and uses a heating element installed in the engine block water jacket. The heating element warms the coolant when the heater cord is plugged into an AC power source.

The unit has a detachable electrical cord. If the heater fails to operate, inspect the cord connections and the power supply before you replace the heating element.
