The die-cast pump is a centrifugal vane impeller type. The impeller turns on a steel shaft that rotates in a permanently lubricated ball bearing.

The pump inlet connects to the bottom of the radiator by a rubber hose. Coolant passes from the pump through the engine front cover and into the coolant passages in the block. This is done in order to absorb excess engine heat.
