Transmission Fluid Filler Tube and Seal Replacement 5.0, 5.7
Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission oil lever indicator.
- Remove the air cleaner, if required.
- Remove the bolts, nuts and brackets that secure the oil level
indicator tube to the engine.
- Remove the stud that secures the oil level indicator tube bracket
to the transmission.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube from the transmission.
- Remove the seal from the oil level indicator tube.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new seal into the transmission
case.
- Install the oil level indicator tube into the seal and transmission
case.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the stud that secures the oil level
indicator tube bracket to the transmission.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt that secures the oil level indicator tube bracket to
47 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the bolts, nuts and brackets that secure the oil level
indicator tube to the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and nuts that secure the oil level indicator tube
to the engine to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner, if required.
- Install the transmission oil level indicator.
