Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not run the engine without the oil pump drive in place. This will cause extensive engine damage.

    Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.

  2. Object Number: 59759  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fuel filter from the lower intake manifold and lay to the side and secure out of the way.
  4. • Refer to Fuel Manager/Filter Replacement in Engine Controls L65
    • Refer to Fuel Manager/Filter Replacement (EFI/MFI) in Engine Controls L57
  5. Tie the engine wiring harness extension harness assembly out of the way.

  6. Object Number: 59765  Size: SH
  7. Remove the oil pump drive clamp retaining bolt.
  8. Remove the oil pump drive clamp.

  9. Object Number: 59768  Size: SH
  10. Remove the oil pump drive.
  11. Remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 59768  Size: SH
  1. Install the new gasket to the oil pump drive.
  2. Install the oil pump drive to the engine.
  3. • Index the drive with the camshaft gear and the oil pump drive shaft.
    • Make sure the oil pump drive seats fully.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the oil pump drive retaining clamp and bolt to the engine block.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  6. Untie the engine wiring harness extension harness assembly and reposition.

  8. Install the fuel filter to the lower intake manifold.

    • Refer to Fuel Manager/Filter Replacement (EFI/MFI) in Engine Controls L57
  10. Connect the battery cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .
