Removal Procedure
Notice: Do not run the engine without the oil pump drive in place. This will
cause extensive engine damage.
Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads
must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury
and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable from the battery.
- Remove the fuel filter
from the lower intake manifold and lay to the side and secure out of the way.
• | Refer to Fuel Manager/Filter Replacement
in Engine Controls L65 |
• | Refer to Fuel Manager/Filter Replacement (EFI/MFI)
in Engine Controls L57 |
- Tie the engine wiring harness extension harness assembly out of
the way.
- Remove the oil pump drive
clamp retaining bolt.
- Remove the oil pump drive clamp.
- Remove the oil pump drive.
- Remove the gasket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new gasket
to the oil pump drive.
- Install the oil pump drive to the engine.
• | Index the drive with the camshaft gear and the oil pump drive
shaft. |
• | Make sure the oil pump drive seats fully. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil
pump drive retaining clamp and bolt to the engine block.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Untie the engine wiring harness extension harness assembly and
reposition.
- Install the fuel filter to the lower intake manifold.
