Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.

- Remove the thermostat. Refer to Thermostat.
- Remove the nut, the ground cable, the two nuts, the bolt, and
the generator bracket from the studs and the generator.
- Remove the wiring harness from the temperature
sensor.
- Remove the clamp from the bypass hose.
- Remove the two studs, the bolts, the crossover
and the two gaskets from the engine block.
- Remove the clamps and the bypass hose
from the crossover and the coolant pump.
- Clean all traces of gasket material from the crossover and the
engine block.
- Inspect the crossover for cracks or other damage.
- Inspect the bypass hose for splits, cracks, rotting and other
deterioration.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clamps and the bypass hose
on the coolant pump.
- Install two new gaskets and the crossover
on the engine block and the bypass hose with two studs and the bolts.
- Connect the wiring harness to the temperature
sensor.
- Install the generator bracket on the studs
and the generator with the three nuts and the bolt.
- Connect the ground cable on the stud with the nut.
- Install the thermostat on the crossover. Refer to Thermostat.
- Connect the battery negative cable.
