Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Drain the coolant into an appropriate container.
  3. Remove the radiator, the oil cooler and the fan shroud.
  4. Remove the hydraulic hose and fitting at the connector on the cylinder.
  5. Remove the nut and the tabwasher from the center of the cylinder. Discard the nut.
  6. Remove the cylinder from the clutch hub.

  8. Remove the small O-ring from the backside of the cylinder. Remove the large O-ring from the clutch hub.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the large O-ring on the clutch hub. Install the small O-ring on the backside of the cylinder.
  2. Install the cylinder on the clutch hub.
  3. Press the cylinder onto the hub carefully in order to ensure that the O-rings remain in place.

  4. Install the tabwasher and a new nut with Loctite® 271 or the equivalent.
  5. Tighten the nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9.5 N·m (84 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the hydraulic hose and fitting on the connector on the cylinder.
  8. Install the radiator, the oil cooler and the fan shroud.
  9. Fill the radiator with coolant up to the proper level.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
