Important: The batteries must be fully charged before adjusting the voltage regulator.
- Shut off all the electrical accessories.
- Start the engine. Run the engine at approximately 1200 rpm.
- Connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals.
- Remove the plastic screw from the regulator access hole and insert
a small screwdrive).
NOTICE: Do not force the adjustment screw past the stops at either end of the
adjustment range in order to avoid regulator damage.
- Engage the screwdriver in the adjustment
screw inside the regulator. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise in order to
increase the voltage or counterclockwise in order to decrease the voltage.
- Set the voltage to a reading between 13.8 - 14.1 volts.
- If the adjustment screw will not turn far enough to allow the
voltage to be set between 13.8 - 4.1 volts, replace
the regulator.
- Replace the plastic screw in order to seal the voltage adjustment
access hole.
