- Raise the vehicle.
- Scribe a centerline on both of the front tires.
- Lower the vehicle and center the steering wheel.
- Move the vehicle forward 12-15 feet in order to neutralize
the suspension.
- Measure the distance between the two lines in front of the axle
and behind the axle.
- Subtract the front measurement from the rear measurement. The
result will indicate the current amount of toe-in.
The proper setting is between 0 and 1/16 inch. If the result
is a negative number, this indicates toe-out.
- If the current setting is incorrect, follow these steps.
7.1. | Loosen the clamping bolts in the tie rod. |
7.2. | Turn the tie rod in the direction necessary to bring the toe-in
within specified limits. |
- When the toe-in is correct, tighten the clamping bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
