Removal Procedure

    NOTICE: Do not overtighten the valves. Damage to the air tanks may result from overtightening the valves.

  1. Drain the air tanks. Close the valves when the tanks are drained.
  2. NOTICE: The air hose connections are brass and plastic. Take care when disconnecting the air hoses. Damage to the air hoses or the fitting may result.

    Important: Plug or cap the air lines and the fittings in order to prevent moisture from entering the compressed air system.

  3. Disconnect the air hoses from the ping tanks.
  4. Remove the four locknuts, the washers, the bolts, and the ping tank from the crossmember (front tank) or the frame (rear tank).
  5. Remove the air fittings from the ping tank for transfer if replacing the ping tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air fittings on the ping tank if installing a new ping tank.
  2. Install the ping tank on the crossmember (front tank) or the frame (rear tank) with the four bolts, the washers and the locknuts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the locknuts to 122 N·m (90 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    NOTICE: The air hose connections are brass and plastic. Take care when disconnecting the air hoses. Damage to the air hoses or the fitting may result.

  4. Connect the air hoses onto the ping tank.
  5. Start the vehicle. Allow the air system to pressurize.
  6. Check for air leaks. Refer to Air Suspension Leak Test.
  7. Measure the ride height. Refer to Ride Height .
  8. Adjust the ride height if necessary. Refer to Ride Height Adjustment .
