The steering wheel and column include the following components.

    • A steering wheel
    • A horn pad
    • The steering column
    • Brackets

The locking, energy-absorbing steering column includes the following three important features in addition to the steering function:

  2. For convenience, the ignition switch, the turn signal switch, and the column tilt mechanisms are mounted on the steering column.
  3. On models with a column-mounted lock, the ignition, steering, and gear shifting operation can be locked as a theft deterrent.

The steering column may be disassembled and reassembled. In order to ensure the energy-absorbing action, perform the following steps.

  1. Use only the specified screws, bolts and nuts for disassembly and reassembly.
  2. The nuts must be tightened to the specified torque.

Avoid the following actions when the column is removed from the vehicle.

    • A sharp blow on the end of the steering shaft
    • A sharp blow on the end of the shift lever
    • Leaning on the column assembly
    • Dropping the column.
